About Polly

Australia got to know Polly when she and her partner Warwick ‘Waz’ Jones won the popular renovation series The Block.  Learning everything on set, The Block let Polly explore an unknown love for media, renovating, learning new skills and patience.

Polly is a Sydney girl who has achieved a lot in her 25 years.  As the youngest of three children, Polly developed a ‘can-do’ attitude and a sense of hard work from the very beginning.  Polly has a great passion for sport, both playing and watching, and can be a rather loud and active spectator!

After school Polly studied a Bachelor of Management in Leisure followed by Honours in Sports Management and Sponsorship which equipped her with skills and a passion for the health and fitness industry.  Travel is another major love of Polly’s, as she jetted off to the USA for 12 months to study at a US university.  This along with Polly’s determination enabled her to see 42 states in 12 weeks!  It was there that she was bitten by the travel bug, and has loved jetting off and experiencing other cultures ever since.

With family in TV, Polly was introduced to the industry at the ripe old age of 8.  Her first role was a young child selling a glass of cordial for 20 cents in the program Good Medicine.  This comfort in the lime light prepared Polly well for her future roles in reality TV.

Right off the back of her success on The Block, Polly was invited to be a contestant on the Nine Network’s show The Celebrity Apprentice, in which she competes against 11 other Australian celebrities for a chance to donate to a charity of their choice.

Polly is making a positive mark on the world and taking it all in her stride.  A strong public speaker, she enjoys working the crowd, whether being an emcee at a corporate conference or a speaker for an intimate event, her positivity and determination for being the best person she can be is contagious.

About Waz

Waz, or Warwick as his family know him is a country boy from Orange in Central West NSW, is the youngest of three.  He packed his bags after finishing school and went travelling solo around the world.  After 3 years he then settled in the big smoke to complete his Bachelor of Public Relations and Communications at the University of Technology, Sydney.
Never wanting to let new experiences or challenges get in the way Waz put his degree and love of sport and fitness to good use when he organised two separate charity cycling trips around Australia.

Ezy Riders Tour ‘04 saw Waz and two close friends cycle unsupported 6,500kms from Perth to Sydney.  As well as raising money for the Heart Foundation Waz visited schools along the way to educate the students about obesity and the importance of diet and exercise.  Another organised trip, Bears to Broome ‘07 saw Waz lead and organise a new crew of friends to cycle 5,000kms from Townsville to Broome, via Darwin.  Waz raised close to $50,000 for the hard working people at Bear Cottage – a hospice that helps families cope and care for a child who has a life-limiting illness, in Manly NSW.

Waz believes in a positive outlook on life, treating people with respect and most importantly to have fun… and that life does work out for the best.  This was highlighted when Waz and his gorgeous partner Polly won the 2011 season of The Block.  This was a great opportunity for Waz to explore his love for hands on work and learning new skills.  There is nothing quite like doing a crash course in every ‘trade’ available whilst renovating an entire house in 8 weeks!

Since The Block both Polly and Waz have made appearances for Mitre 10 and St George Bank and they are both working on new projects together and separately.  They have a strong sense of community and often speak at schools to empower young people to be the best they can.  Polly and Waz are also partnered with HeartKids Australia and where possible do everything they can to raise awareness and money for this significant charity even if it means auctioning themselves off as renovators for a day!

Waz's inherent leadership ability allows him to command a room whether it be children, teenagers or a group of CEO's.  With his invigorating passion for health, well being and life in general, his mission is to show people that when armed with a positive attitude and a smile anything can be achieved.

The Block

In 2011, Polly and Waz decided to take on the unbelievable challenge of competing in Channel 9’s series of The Block. Up against three other couples who all had renovation experience, Polly and Waz believed they had what it took to renovate a house in only 8 weeks… as it turns out they did, winning The Block 2011 and pocketing $115,000. Polly and Waz worked hard, had a laugh and showed anything is possible with a positive attitude and mutual respect.

Heart Kids Australia

HeartKids Australia works to support families who have a child with Childhood Heart Disease (CHD), be it congenital (born with) or acquired, and aims to reduce the incidence and decrease the mortality rates of CHD. Heart defects are the most common birth abnormality and are present in 1 in 100 babies.

Polly and Waz have partnered with HeartKids for personal reasons and have since done everything in their power to raise awareness and money for this very deserving charity.  A good friend of theirs lost their six day old baby girl Pippa to an inoperable heart defect. It is the little battlers like Pippa and those who are able to continue to fight who need our continued support, along with the families who lives are turned upside down.

Please contact HeartKids if you are visiting one of the children’s hospitals, or if you would like some support.

Waz's Charity Bike Rides

There have been a couple of adventures that Waz has been involved in that has changed his life, and helped the way he looks at life.

In 2004, Waz and a couple of great mates cycled 6500km from Perth to Sydney raising money and awareness for the National Heart Foundation, in particular childhood obesity. The boys stopped at schools along the way and educated children about exercise and healthy living.

In 2007, Waz planned another cross country trip with a couple of mates to raise money and awareness for The Bear Cottage in Manly. Waz and his mates cycled 5000km from Townsville to Broome, via Darwin.

Celebrity Apprentice

Polly was invited to participate in Australia’s first The Celebrity Apprentice.  She had an uphill battle on her hands working with 11 very strong willed and well known personalities.  Each contestant played for their charity, Polly’s being HeartKids Australia.

Polly survived challenge #1 with the girls team washing cars and processing donations. Unfortunately Polly wasn’t as lucky in challenge #2, and was fired in a controversial boardroom scene.  Polly’s departure caused a social media furore with fans defending Polly and protesting Mr Bouris’ decision to fire her resulting in his comment on the Kerri-Anne Show, the following day “We all know the biggest gossip of the night was the firing of Polly which I’m sorry about everyone, everyone who tweeted me”. There were 29 donations to HeartKids Australia attributed to Polly within the first 24 hours.
